Black artists are invited to an open invitation to the first Slate Social

A new artist development programme for Black artists living and working in the North East is holding its first social event on Monday 24 April.

Slate Social will be a place to meet other artists and share opportunities, and there is also the chance to watch a screening of I Am Not Your Negro in the cinema, followed by an informal chat about the film.

The first social will offer the chance to find out more about Slate, which is a project devised by Eclipse Theatre and is supported by a number of North East based venues. It is also an opportunity for us to find out more about how we can support artists so that excellent new work can be created in our region.

If you are a director, writer, actor, musician, theatre maker, dancer or artist, then Slate Social is an open invitation for you to join us!

Slate uses the widest socio-political definition of Black and includes anyone that self-identifies as being from an African, Caribbean, Asian, East Asian or any other minority ethnic background.

The social is free, but tickets need to be booked by calling the Box Office on 01642 525199, or by visiting the web page or by booking in person on the door.
