Moonbase Management presents

Amelia Coburn (plus support)

Since being nominated for the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards in 2017, Teesside's very own Amelia Coburn has been busy but maybe not in quite the way you'd imagine.

Yes, she played the Cambridge Folk Festival. Yes, she has played across Europe in her own right and at ukulele and folk festivals. Yes, Mark Radcliffe invited her to play a very select stage at Knutsford Music Festival. Yes, she supported and performed on stage with Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel. Twice. And. yes, she was invited to not only play at The Wedding Present curated At The Edge of The Sea festival AND then supported the band at their packed Paris date in 2018.

Perhaps more importantly though, for her development as surely one of the country's most distinctive musical voices, she has been travelling and living in France, Mexico and, by the time she returns for this event, Russia as part of her language studies. Exposure to these cultures has already made its way into the clutch of new songs she has written which, while drifting across folk, jazz and latin-pop, sees her unique ear for an original melody, playfulness and use of THAT voice intact.

She will, no doubt, still be presenting her inimitable interpretations of artists as diverse as Kate Bush, Bowie and The Specials and may have a surprise guest and instrument or two but this is, in many ways, the start of phase two for Amelia where she continues to develop her own original musical world and aims to take you to a really magical place. Be there.
