Cafe Scientifique: The Physics of Life

Traditionally, physicists are supposed to stay away from biology. Physicists are supposed to study hard things like matter and energy and steer clear of the soft, complex and often downright mucky realm of biology. A new generation of biophysicists is challenging this.

Adam will discuss how ideas and tools borrowed from physics are being used to make new discoveries about life and disease.

Dr Adam Wollman is an experimental biophysicist. He designs and builds advanced microscopes to observe human cells and pathogens. He is a Wellcome Trust funded research fellow in the Physics and Biology departments at the University of York.
