Matt Miller presents

Most of us have different versions of ourselves, and often use clothes to project the person we want to be. Who’s the you that other people see? Or don’t see?

Having begun to experiment with different clothes as a way of escaping notions of what ‘can’ or ‘cannot’ be worn and beginning to identify as a cross dresser, Matt Miller (2014 BBC Verb New Voice) experiences a new set of social rules that seem to reset gender norms as much as question them.

From people they know to the man at the bus stop, what do people think when Matt starts to dress in women’s clothes? What judgements do we make based on appearance? Are we all performing?

Fitting explores our universal experiences of visibility, invisibility and finding new places to fit, whilst playing with frocks, suits and a little magic!
