THE SHOW
UIITBA is a darkly twisted comedy using clowning & music to explore isolation, escapism and fear.
THE BLURB
On the outskirts of a small town a 24 hour garage is under attack from supernatural forces. Can 2 lowly cashiers live to fight another day, or be trapped in an endless night shift? There’s Something Unexpected in the Bagging Area…
YOUR ROLE
Here at The Doghouse we are seeking an inventive Set Designer to work alongside a Lighting Designer to create an environment that challenges the boundaries of the mundane and the supernatural. The set should be minimalistic – focusing on clear entrances and exits for the performers, a place on stage for a musician to inhabit and support live projections. Finally, the set should be small enough to tour and set up in studio spaces (I can almost imagine a set within a set or a space within a space).
VISUAL STORYTELLING
Scott is an experienced performer and theatre maker who uses live illustrations on an old school Over Head Projector to tell stories and animate characters. So, visual storytelling will be an essential part of the process.
CLOWNING
The team are influenced by theatre companies such as Spy Monkey and Gecco, so we will be focusing on physical comedy and clowning as a way of creating new material to add to an existing script.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
Please send us an email with a CV attached detailing your experience as a Movement Director, Artist, Collaborator. Include a paragraph or two telling us a little bit about yourself and why you would like to work alongside us at The Doghouse. If you have any links to your work that would be extremely useful. Also, if you prefer to send a video detailing your interest please do so. Keep it under 2 minutes and good luck!
So, If you are passionate about creating funny physical theatre that distorts the familiar, we’d love to hear from you.
