Still Blowing in the Wind: An Evening of Bob Dylan and Protest Song

Many regard Bob Dylan as the spokesmen of a generation since the mid-1960s. Although he himself dismissed this label, albums like ‘The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan’ and ‘The Times they are a changin’ made him one the 20th Century’s most appreciated musical political statesmen. His words, simple melodies and thought-provoking poetic style made him universally adored and critically acclaimed.

In a very special homage, one of Stockton’s best known musical spokesmen Mike McGrother, together with members of The Wildcats of Kilkenny, Matt Wilde, Luke Evans, Dan Donnelly, Jess Daley and more interpret some of Dylan’s finest material together with other iconic protest songs of the 60’s.

The night will also illustrate the inspiration of Dylan as new songs of protest and of social conscience are premiered for the first time. Together with full male voice choir, Infant Hercules this is sure to be an incredibly emotional and evocative night paying tribute to and celebrating the genius of the one and only Bob Dylan.

We are delighted to be joined for evening by The Commoners Choir from Leeds. Their songs of protest, inequality and injustice add an extra 30 voices to the gig and they will share songs from their new album '21 tracks of protest, anger, humour and hope' as well as joining us (and you) to sing some of Dylan's anthemic choruses!
