Northern Hospitality lead the line-up for Soundcheck with Risco, End Credits and Rose Malus for another night celebrating the region’s thriving grassroots music scene.
The next wave of North East bands returns to ARC Stockton this autumn as Soundcheck continues its mission to champion some of the region’s most exciting original artists, led by one of the most promising young bands Northern Hospitality.
Back on Thu 10 Sep, Soundcheck has quickly established itself as one of the North East’s most exciting grassroots music nights, giving audiences the chance to catch tomorrow’s headline acts while they’re still playing intimate rooms.
Following a successful launch earlier this year, the series continues to shine a spotlight on original music from across Tees Valley and the wider North East, with four emerging acts taking to the ARC stage for a night dedicated entirely to homegrown talent.
This time around, the spotlight falls on Northern Hospitality, who top a bill that also features Risco, End Credits and Rose Malus.
Northern Hospitality arrive fresh from a standout summer including an appearance at Kendal Calling and support slots alongside Pete Doherty, Kaiser Chiefs, Feeder and Tom Meighan. Their guitar-led indie sound has quietly earned them a reputation as one of the North’s most promising young bands.
Also on the bill are Stockton favourites Risco, whose blend of surf rock, indie and alternative influences continues to find new audiences both locally and further afield. Rooted firmly in Teesside, their songs capture everyday stories and experiences with warmth, wit and plenty of personality.
End Credits are a psych-influenced trio writing melancholy songs about time, existence and love backed by a high energy, theatrical live show. Sharing stages with the likes of Ocean Colour Scene and The Coral, the feisty Teesside lads evolve upon every release, with latest single ‘When Push Comes to Shove ’being their hottest, heaviest track yet.
Opening the evening are Rose Malus, another band making a name for themselves on the local circuit. Their latest single, Abruptly Uninspired, showcases a band continuing to evolve, while frontman Dylan is already a familiar face to many gig-goers through his work behind the bar at ARC, making this a homecoming performance.
Chantal Taylor, Marketing & Communications Manager at ARC Stockton, said:
“One of the best things about Soundcheck is seeing artists who are already building a name for themselves across the region take that next step. We want people to come through the doors not knowing every band on the bill and leave having discovered their new favourite.
“That’s what grassroots music is all about. Teesside has always produced brilliant artists and Soundcheck is our way of making sure they have a stage, an audience and the opportunity to keep growing.
“The line-up really showcases the quality and diversity of original music being made across the North East right now.”
Soundcheck was created to give emerging artists from Tees Valley and the wider North East a platform to perform in front of new audiences while creating a regular home for original live music in Stockton.
The series has already featured performances from George Bailey, Melanie Baker, Nice Guy, Alex Lyons and Jake Diaz, with future editions planned to continue celebrating the depth of talent emerging from the region’s grassroots scene.
Soundcheck featuring Northern Hospitality, Risco End Credits and Rose Malus takes place at ARC Stockton on Thursday 10 September at 7.30pm.
