From surreal comedic shows and thought-provoking discussions to unforgettable moments of family fun, our programme is packed with experiences that entertain, challenge, and bring people together.
We’re shining a spotlight on a few standout performances from May that truly left a mark – the ones we couldn’t stop talking about long after the final bow. Here’s what captured our hearts and minds:
Judith – Family Arts Coordinator
Cinderella Ice Cream Seller was a high-energy whirlwind of joy and a magical retelling of a classic tale with a fresh, contemporary twist. Bursting with charm, the show delivered an engaging story, an incredible soundtrack, and powerhouse vocals.
The atmosphere was electric, taking audiences on an uplifting journey that inspired young people to dream big and never give up. Every element was crafted to captivate all ages.

What can I say about Unexpected Item in the Bagging Area? It was surreal, brilliantly barmy, and absolutely hilarious. I went along for the gala night, which featured a raffle, an auction, and an incredible set from local musician Izzy Neish – all in support of getting Scott to the Edinburgh Fringe. The whole evening was packed with energy and entertainment from beginning to end. We need more comedy like this – original and bold with real human experiences at heart.

Talking About the Fire was nothing like I expected. I’d heard Chris Thorpe was a theatre legend, but I was nervous it might be a heavy lecture on nuclear warfare – something I know nothing about – but it was the total opposite. We listened to Amy Winehouse, ate Oreos, and Chris’ laidback style made the big topic of nuclear weapons feel human and easy to engage with. He had a great connection with the audience and made us feel like we were all figuring it out together. Thoughtful, funny, and unexpectedly moving.
