Calling all 14 – 19 year olds to join our free ‘Fun Palace’! There is plenty going on for young people aged 14 – 19 to get involved with as part of the worldwide annual celebration of ‘Fun Palaces’ on Saturday 1 October.
We are hosting a range of different art and science themed pop up events such as a silent disco, chocolate making workshop, an interactive screening of spooky film Woman in Black, a lyrical slam workshop, a graffiti exhibition, a selfie art workshop and a zine making workshop, which are all free to get involved with.
There will also be a pop up MOT workshop to fix bikes or skateboards, as well as a video gaming challenge and snacks will available throughout the day.
A Fun Palace is a community space which hosts a range of free, fun and interactive pop up events for the public to enjoy, and this year ARC’s Fun Palace is specifically inviting teenagers to get involved.
The concept is the brainchild of late theatre-maker and arts activist Joan Littlewood, who had a vision of enabling everyone to take part in fun arts related events regardless of their gender, background or social status.
Even when the Fun Palace is over, there are lots of things for 14 – 19 year olds to get involved with through a special new membership scheme, ARC YP, which gives them access to exclusive events, workshops and discounts on food at ARC all year round.
ARC is one of over 200 venues expected to pop up globally in arts centres, swimming pools, theatres, universities, back gardens, castles, libraries and woodlands in the UK and around the world.
All of the events are free, but places will need to be reserved for any of the workshops by calling ARC’s Box Office on 01642 525199 or by visiting www.arconline.co.uk.
Over the weekend you can check out what’s happening at Fun Palaces across the globe via Twitter at #FunPalaces and on Instagram @FunPalaces.
