At ARC, on Sat 21st Jun from 12pm to 6pm, the town will come together for a joyful, free celebration of culture, community, and connection as part of Refugee Week. The event is open to everyone, and we’d love you to join us.
Stockton’s Refugee Week Celebration is more than just a day of food, music, and performances (although there’ll be plenty of that too!). It’s an opportunity to stand in solidarity with refugees and people seeking sanctuary, to celebrate their strength and creativity, and to recognise the many ways they enrich the life of our town.
This year’s theme, Community as a Superpower, is a reminder that together, we are stronger. Community offers support, safety, belonging and for many people seeking refuge, it’s a lifeline. When we open our hearts and our spaces, we create the kind of world we all want to live in: one where kindness is the norm, and where everyone has the chance to thrive.
Visitors can expect a packed programme of activities and entertainment. There will be live music and performances from artists with roots all over the world, delicious food to enjoy, a vibrant cultural marketplace and a clothes swap. There will be plenty for families too with crafts, face painting and plenty more. Information stalls will be on hand for those who want to learn more about the organisations and services supporting refugees locally.
So, mark your calendar: Saturday 21 June, 12pm to 6pm here at ARC. Entry is completely free. You can find out more about Refugee Week and this year’s theme by clicking here.
We can’t wait to welcome you. Let’s come together, celebrate what unites us, and experience the true superpower of community!
