At ARC, there’s always something exciting on the horizon.
Whether it’s a thought-provoking play, an unexpected musical discovery, or a captivating spoken word performance, the variety of talent on display never ceases to amaze.
This month, we wanted to share our top picks from the incredible performances that had us talking long after the curtains fell. Here’s a glimpse into what we loved:
Rum – Lynne Lawson, Creative Engagement Coordinator
The theme of men’s mental health is never an easy one to tackle, but Rum handled it with both humour and sensitivity. Joe’s performance was truly authentic bringing Danny’s story to life in a way that felt personal, real, and raw. We’ve all encountered men in our lives who have their own stories to share, and Joe’s portrayal was a beautiful reflection of that. We laughed, we cried, and we saw so much of the men around us in his performance. A truly powerful piece that left us thinking long after the final scene.
Imogen & the Knife at Stockton Calling – Karen Parmley, Tees Valley Creates: The Freelancer Network Producer
I walked into ARC with no expectations, I’d never heard of Imogen & the Knife before and wasn’t sure what to expect. But wow, was I blown away. Imogen’s voice is absolutely unreal, and the whole room seemed to be mesmerised, hanging on every note. At one point, her voice, paired with the brass, created such a powerful moment that I had to stop myself from tearing up. Events like Stockton Calling are what make ARC so special. It’s not just about discovering new music, it’s about sharing those moments with a crowd of people who genuinely love music.
Luke Wright – Sarah Harbon, Creative Programme Administrator
What a fantastic evening spent with Luke Wright! To be honest, I wasn’t sure poetry or spoken word was for me, but Luke proved me wrong. He has such charisma and charm, engaging the audience with such ease. The evening was funny, thought-provoking, and left me wanting more. The way he blended humour with deeper insights had me hooked from the start. If you’ve never been to a spoken word event, I highly recommend it, Luke’s performance made me realise how powerful and moving this art form can be.
We hope you’re as inspired by these incredible performances as we were. At ARC, we’re lucky to have such a wide variety of talent gracing our stage, and these events are just a small taste of the amazing experiences we have to offer. Stay tuned for more, and we’ll see you at the next show!
