We all have a nationality.

Or almost all of us.

Status is a show about someone who doesn’t want his any more. About running away from the national story you’re given. About who is responsible for that story and what might happen to it if you give it up.

Moving from Europe to America to Asia, Status is a globe-spanning journey of attempted escape, with songs, a stunning soundscape and video projections to entertain along the way. It springs from conversations with people from all over the world, about who we might be, and whether your country needs you more than you might need it.

Written and performed by Chris Thorpe, developed with and directed by Rachel Chavkin.

Commissioned by Battersea Arts Centre, Warwick Arts Centre and Les Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg and supported by the British Council, Goethe-Institut London and the Collaborative Touring Network.

This performance will be BSL interpreted Sign1.jpg

The performance will be followed by an informal post-show Q&A.
