Teesside audiences will have the first chance to see a new show based on the bestselling children's book Oh No, George!

A new theatre show coming to ARC in Stockton will give local families the chance to see beloved children’s book Oh No, George! magically adapted into a stage show before anyone else. The show, based on Chris Haughton’s book of the same name, tells the story of George, a dog who wants to be good but just can’t resist temptation

The book has been adapted for the stage by Can’t Sit Still, a theatre company that specialise in combining physical theatre, circus, and live music in their shows, which promises to make the show a lively and fun experience for all the family.

The company have been working to bring the show to life through circus, clowning, and all round fun. A class of children from local Bowesfield Primary School were invited to see a preview of the performance at ARC where the company have been working to put the final pieces of the show together. Children from Bowesfield Primary School who saw the performance said:

“When George was climbing the man it was really funny.”

“My favourite part was when George was dancing.”

“I liked it when George was sniffing my teacher.”

Can’t Sit Still were chosen to make the show by ARC and Barnsley Civic Theatre specifically for their audiences. After debuting in Stockton, Oh No, George! will make its way to Barnsley before heading out on a national tour, meaning Stockton audiences will be the very first to enjoy the new show.

Performances will take place at ARC on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 March at 11.30am and 2.30pm. Book your tickets here!
