General Prices: £5

From Wednesday 1st April 2026, we are having to slightly raise the price from £4 to £5 per person, per session.  As a charity facing increasing costs and overheads we have conducted a careful review of our charges. These workshops have been at the same price since 2022, and we’ve tried to keep it that way for as long as possible. This small change will help us continue running the sessions and make sure the workshop can keep going for everyone who enjoys coming along each week. We really value the wonderful community that has grown around these groups, and it’s always a pleasure seeing everyone getting involved, having fun and supporting each other.

ARCulele Beginners is a fun, relaxed way to start making music together. This upbeat band-style session is perfect if you’re new to the ukulele and want to build skills and confidence while learning to play well-known tunes as part of a friendly group.

No musical experience is needed; it doesn’t matter if you’ve never picked up an instrument before or feel a bit unsure about keeping time. This is a supportive space where you can learn at your own pace, have a laugh and enjoy discovering a new hobby alongside others.

There are also opportunities to take part in performances for those who’d like to, from community events to ARC stages, but there’s no pressure, and it’s always your choice. Don’t worry if you don’t have your own ukulele yet, as a small number of instruments are available to borrow.

  • Meet the Facilitator

    Hi, I’m Stephen, and I’m a music practitioner here at ARC. I’ve spent many years working in music education across Teesside, helping people of all ages discover the joy of learning an instrument and making music together. I run our ARCulele groups, where we focus on confidence, connection, and plenty of feel-good playing, and I’m passionate about creating welcoming sessions where everyone feels relaxed, encouraged, and part of the group. I can’t wait to meet you and help you take your next musical step.

  • What to Bring

    If you have your own ukulele, please bring it along, but don’t worry if you don’t, we have a small number of instruments available to borrow. It can also be helpful to bring a music stand if you have one, a notebook or your phone for notes, and a water bottle to stay refreshed. Most importantly, bring yourself, a bit of curiosity and a willingness to have a go.

  • Companion Ticket Scheme

    A free ticket is available to a companion accompanying a disabled person to an event, where it is an access requirement. To book a companion ticket or accessible seating as part of your order please contact the Box Office team on 01642 525199 or email [email protected]
