Gill Adams joins our team to lead on a new exciting initiative which aims to give every five year old in Stockton the chance to experience the magic of a trip to the theatre with the help of the local community.
A Theatre Trip for Every Child campaign, which is in conjunction with The Albany in London and supported locally by Stockton Borough Council, aims to counteract the decline in the number of primary school children visiting the theatre.
A donation of just £10 from an individual donor or corporate giver will enable one child to visit ARC and experience what could be their first taste of theatre.
Over the next two years, Gill will take the lead on promoting the campaign to the public and local business community, in the hope that their donations will enable primary school children to take advantage of the rich cultural offer available on their doorstep.
Gill works on various fundraising campaigns for arts centres, most notably raising £1.6 million which enabled the redevelopment of People’s Theatre in Newcastle.
Speaking about her role at ARC, she commented: “I am delighted to be undertaking a fresh and exciting challenge at ARC in conjunction with our partners at the Albany. A Theatre Trip for Every Child is a really exciting opportunity to enable as many children in the Borough as possible to engage in arts and theatre. We have already received a great response from local businesses, and I am looking forward to building on the campaign’s initial success.”
Donations can be made in person at ARC or by donating via the website at http://arconline.co.uk/support-us.
