Launch Event details: The launch for Move:Still by Francis Fitzgerald will take place Thursday 4 December at 6pm. Refreshments will be provided and Globadelic (Vinyl DJ) on the decks will be bringing the background soundtrack.

A major new photography exhibition celebrating the incredible diversity of dance across the Tees Valley.

Move:Still showcases the work of Saltburn-based photographer Francis Fitzgerald, featuring stunning images of 250 dancers captured across solo, duet and ensemble performances. From ballet to breakdancing, contemporary to classical, flamenco to sword dancing, and aerial to Afrobeats, the exhibition embraces almost every form of dance imaginable.

The exhibition emerged from Francis’s partnership with TeesDance, documenting their community participation project HOME in 2024. When rioting threatened to disrupt Middlesbrough Mela and other events, the creative community responded with resilience, bringing together dancers of all ages and backgrounds in a joyful celebration of colour, music and movement.

Move:Still is divided into six distinct areas, taking you on a journey through the region’s vibrant dance scene. Explore images captured at major festivals including SIRF, Between the Tides, Billingham International Folk Festival, Saltburn Folk Festival, Wintertide and Middlesbrough Mela. Go behind the scenes with intimate rehearsal shoots, discover striking studio portraits and location photography, experience the energy of on-stage performances, and witness the power of TeesDance’s mass participation piece HOME.
