Simple minded, kite flying pigs are the stars of a fabulously updated traditional nursery tale created for children and their parents and running at your venue from your dates. 3 Little Pigs is the sell-out family friendly puppet show from Stuff and Nonsense Theatre Company directed by Marc Parrett and produced by Niki McCretton.
Featuring a silver-tongued, hungry wolf and three ingenious little pigs, we see them discover that building their own home is not as easy as it looks! They find themselves asking what is the best material to use? Will it keep out the rain? Will it be Wolf Proof?! Well, there’s only one way to find out…
The hugely loveable puppets are created and directed by puppet maestro Marc Parrett who has worked with Bristol Old Vic, Aardman Animations and The RSC. Stuff and Nonsense theatre company has teamed up with leading early-years performance expert Niki McCretton to create an enormously entertaining show featuring music, ingenious puppets and fantastically realistic blow-away buildings.
3 Little Pigs is a co-production with Salisbury Playhouse. Marc Parrett and Niki McCretton are affiliated artists to the Merlin Theatre, Frome and Niki McCretton is Resident Artist at Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts.
This is one of the most delightful ways to while away 50 minutes. There are some productions that could do with cuts to curb the tedium, but Stuff and Nonsense Theatre Company leaves you wishing for more. Billed for two to seven year olds, it also enchants the child in every adult. There is a spontaneous round of applause when the pigs complete their first house – a sure sign the whole audience is on board. The show’s key is its clever simplicity… Even the counterpoint of scale adds to the sense of fun as the action unfolds.
