For the past year, the Tees Valley International Film Festival has been inviting independent filmmakers from all over the world to submit their short films for inclusion in the festival. From the hundreds of entries we received, the following films have been nominated for the Best Horror Award.

Manicure

Before her 30th birthday party, Elanor’s anxiety and demand for perfection turn a pleasant manicure into a bloody mess.

Dir: Carluccio

That’s Our Time

Danny’s stuck in a dead-end job. It keeps him focused on the clock and unable to connect with those around him. At their final session, his sympathetic therapist tries to help him realize that it’s more important to focus on the time you have left than the time you’ve already spent.

Dir: Alex Backes

Ron

Mel pays a visit to her new dementia patient, Ron. During her visit, Ron’s behaviour raises more concerns than she originally expected.

Dir: William Prince

Sceptic

Emma is an atheist and does not believe in the supernatural. However, she needs to research a magazine article on this topic. So, she meets up with a group called The Supernatural Society in a pub. They invite her to a Ouija session they are having that night in a house where some students died. Will our journalist still be a sceptic after a night with the Supernatural Society?

Dir: Carl B. Harrison

You can see all these films back-to-back in this block showing of the Tees Valley International Film Festival Best Horror Award-nominated short films.

Total running time: 45 mins

  • Pay what you decide information

Purple Pay What You Decide Logo

ARC’s theatre and dance performances are priced on a Pay What You Decide basis, which means you don’t have to pay until after you have seen a show!

We want to encourage more people to come and see shows at ARC, more often. Pay What You Decide not only allows you to pay what you can afford, rather than a fixed ticket price, but also removes the financial risk of buying a ticket for a show in advance without knowing whether you are going to enjoy it or not.

Tickets are available to book in advance as usual, but there is no obligation for you to pay until after you have seen the show. You can then decide on a price which you think is suitable based on your experience, which means if you haven’t enjoyed it at all, you don’t have to pay anything.

All money collected will help ARC pay the artists who have performed, and we therefore hope you will give generously.

Please ensure you have arrived and collected your tickets 15 minutes before the show starts in order to secure your seats. At the end of the show, you can decide what to pay, either by cash on the door or by card at the Box Office.
