The Tees Valley Youth Dance Company has been awarded £4550 by People’s Postcode Trust, a grant giving charity, funded entirely by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.  The award will be used to deliver the Advance Dance Tour – a project that will enable the Youth Dance Company to tour an exciting piece of choreography and a dance workshop to local primary and secondary schools to inspire young people to get involved with dance.

The project will take place throughout April – July 2014 and will provide the Youth Dance Company with weekly training sessions to develop their choreographic, leadership, communication and delivery skills.  During these sessions they will work with Debbie Waistell, a local dance practitioner to develop their choreography and teaching skills so they can visit 8-10 local schools to perform, deliver a dance workshop and talk to the students about dance in the Tees Valley.

The Advance Dance Tour is looking to go to both Primary and Secondary schools – if your school is interested in being visited by the Youth Dance Company please contact Rachael Ankers.
