An update on what’s happening at ARC this September

ARC

There’s now just six weeks to go until we can reopen our doors, so this seemed like the perfect time to let you in our some of our plans for September.

Opening times

ARC’s building will reopen on Monday 7 September at 12pm inline with our revised opening times. Our new opening times will be:

Mon 12pm – 4pm
Tues 10am – 7pm
Wed – Sat 10am – 10pm
Sun – Closed

What’s On?

We hope the film fans among you will share our excitement that cinema will return to ARC from Wednesday 9 September. We will be screening two films a week, with screenings returning Wednesday to Saturday. Family films will also make a welcome return on Saturday mornings.

Our film programmer Daniel is currently working hard to confirm all the details, and we’ll be sharing these via our website and social media as soon as we have them. We will also be emailing details out so if you haven’t already signed up to our mailing list you can do this here.

Our September programme will see the launch of our latest exhibition. Hosted in the Gallery with social distancing in place, it will feature work created as part of our We ARConnected programme (there’s still time to take part if you haven’t already). Work by participants from our Staying Out and Silver Creative Arts & Crafts groups will also feature in the exhibition.

A number of our regular classes will also return, with some taking place in person, while others will continue to be hosted online. These sessions include:

  • Silver Tai Chi Beginners – Mondays at 12.30pm
  • Silver Tai Chi Intermediates – Mondays at 2pm
  • Silver Shapers – Tuesdays at 10.30am (online)
  • Silver Ballet Pilates – Tuesdays at 12pm
  • Silver Creative Writing – Tuesdays at 10am (online)
  • Silver Creative Arts and Crafts at 10.30am
  • Silver ARCulele – Fridays at 1pm (online until Friday 11 Septmeber, then in person)
  • ARC Film Making – Saturdays at 11am

How we’re keeping audiences safe

Our operations team are currently risk assessing all of our activity and putting procedures in place to make ARC’s building COVID secure.

These include floor markings and one way systems, a stricter cleaning schedule, hand sanitiser stations and socially distanced seating in No 60.

All of our classes will have social distancing in place, and our theatre stage has been repurposed to provide room for our most popular classes. If you’ve ever wanted to tread the boards at ARC now’s your chance.

We will be introducing socially distanced seating for all screenings as part of our COVID secure strategy. This will help to keep our staff and audiences safe, but will mean far fewer seats with be available, so advance booking is strongly advised for all screenings.

You can also help us to reduce queues and maintain social distancing during your visit by selecting our new e-ticket feature. Booking with this feature means you’ll receive your tickets via email and simply need to show them on your phone when you you arrive.

We have offered contactless payment at box office and our bars for some time now and will be asking all customers to use contactless or card payment when we return to the building to reduce contact between customers and staff.

We will be providing regular updates as our COVID secure planning develops via the COVID Secure page on our website.

We can’t wait to welcome you back this September and share what we do with you once more.
