In March, we wrote to a number of our audience members asking them for their thoughts on live music; which bands they like, where they enjoyed going to see live music and, generally, what they love about it and who they’d look forward to seeing when live music venues open again.
The response was overwhelming and we received some lovely emails and telephone messages. Live music means a lot to us and we’re glad it means a lot to our audiences too.
We gave all the messages to Andrew Johnson, a popular local musician who performs as Old Red Eyes, as well as in bands The Southmartins, and Crimson Bloom. He used these messages as his inspiration to write a new song called Brand New Day to celebrate the return of live music and you can listen to it on Soundcloud below. You can also download the track as an MP3 by clicking here.
One person left us a message about live music that really summed things up for us, so we used their words and their voice on the song as well.
We can’t wait to welcome music lovers back to ARC and would like to thank all those audience members that shared their thoughts with us.
If you enjoy the song and would like to hear more from Andy Johnson you can see him at ARC on Thursday 16 September.
