Emerging playwrights prepare to share their new work

Eight emerging playwrights who are part of ARC’s Writers ARCADE group are preparing to share brand new scripts which they have developed after benefiting from a ten month professional development scheme.

The scheme received a grant from Arts Council England which has enabled the writers to have access to valuable support and advice from established theatre makers making their journey into professional writing a little less daunting.

As part of the scheme, the eight writers have taken part in a series of talks and workshops with industry leaders such as director and performer Chris Goode and journalist and Emmerdale writer Nick Ahad which has helped them develop theior skills and knolwdge of script writing.

Each writer is now preparing to share their brand new one hour scripts to the public at ARC over the coming months as part of the Rehearsed Readings.

The Rehearsed Readings are as follows;

Preservation by Louise Taylor, Wed 6 May
Breakdown by Dan Perry, Wed 13 May
Wasters by Nicola Cameron, Wed 20 May
One Cold Clear Night in November by Chrissie Petrie, Wed 27 May
If I Should Wake by Scott Young, Wed 3 June
White Noise by Mhairi Ledgerwood, Wed 10 June
Yes Chef! by Becci Sharrock, Wed 17 June

Each of the Rehearsed Readings will be priced on the Pay What You Decide policy, meaning customers make a decision on what they wish to pay after watching the performance and everyone is welcome to come and support the new writers.
