Giant Vegetable dominates Easter

The creators of ARC’s captivating Christmas show, Stuff and Nonsense Theatre Company are bringing their re-potted version of the famous children’s story, The Enormous Turnip for ARC’s Easter Show.

Following their sell-out shows of 3 Little Pigs and The Little Red Hen, which delighted ARC audiences in the run up to Christmas, this unswervingly energetic company returns with a brilliant adaptation featuring wonderful puppetry, live music and massive vegetables.

In a tiny house the size of a shed, Mr and Mrs Chickweed live on their allotment surrounded by vegetables aplenty. But they can’t resist planting one more seed and as their turnip grows it threatens their house with disaster! Can anyone help pull up their Enormous Turnip?

ARC’s Chief Executive, Annabel Turpin, said that she is delighted to have the company return,

Our Christmas show The Little Red Hen was such a fantastic, engaging and funny show and we were inundated with positive audience feedback, so we are really excited that Stuff and Nonsense will be returning for our Easter show. The audience needs to be ready to help solve the problems the turnip starts to cause and everyone won’t be able to stop smiling. The ending is a real surprise.

The hugely loveable puppets are created and directed by puppet maestro Marc Parrett who has worked with Bristol Old Vic, Aardman Animations and The RSC. Stuff and Nonsense Theatre Company has teamed up with leading early-years performance expert Niki McCretton to create an enormously entertaining show.

I wish I was five again. Then I could let out unselfconscious whoops of hilarity and yelps of excitement. As it is, watching this delightful piece of theatre unfold, is almost enough to liberate adult inhibitions….A truly enchanting hour for children – and their parents.

We went to The Little Red Hen yesterday with our very active 1.5 year-old Poppy, she has never sat still for more than 2 minutes in her life. Until she watched The Little Red Hen at the ARC. She was mesmerised and loved every minute, she has done nothing but talk about the naughty pig ever since. I enjoyed it to and I’m a 37 year old fella!
