ARC Stockton have received funding to enable refurbishment of the venue’s kitchen, foyer, ground floor and first floor bar, which will significantly develop and build on the venue’s current food and drink offering.
A complete kitchen refurbishment will take place, which will include a new training area, and exciting plans are in place to transform the ground floor foyer and first floor bar areas, adding a new vibrancy to the spaces which are used for a range of events.
The plans have been made possible due to a grant from the Arts Council England’s Small Scale Capital Grants Scheme, along with financial support from Stockton Borough Council.
This combined investment will help to increase capacity in terms of visitors to No 60, the name given to ARC’s café bar area and catering team, and will ultimately be an exciting new dining experience for visitors to the town centre.
Annabel Turpin, Chief Executive of ARC commented: “We are really looking forward to seeing the refurbishment take shape. We hope these developments will give a richer, more dynamic experience for our customers, providing a new eating and drinking destination for visitors to the town centre.”
Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “This is fantastic news both for the great number of people who already regularly visit and enjoy all that ARC has to offer, and for the many new visitors the refurbishment will attract.
“The Council is delighted to be working to support the improvements to ARC which complement the many recent developments where a range of new upmarket bars and trendy eateries are opening in Stockton Town Centre.
“Venues such as this and the improvements works to an already stellar venue like ARC will help to ensure the town is a vibrant and attractive place to visit, in keeping with our Great British High Street Rising Star national award.”
Work should be complete by early September and ARC will be open as usual during the refurbishment period. A reduced menu will be available from No 60 throughout this time.
