Welcome to Spring 2017!

Welcome to 2017 at ARC! We are taking a look ahead at some fantastic performances coming up this Spring.

We have picked out just a selection of events below from each programme, so make sure you also have a look at the What’s On section to see a full list of what will be coming up. There is also plenty of cinema screenings and classes and workshops coming up too!

Music and Comedy –Beatlemania is one of the world’s leading Fab Four tributes and a must for any Beatles fan. Lindisfarne make a return with original founding member, and Stockton Calling 2017 has another incredible line up. Ale & Arty will be mixing the best brews with top entertainment from Limehouse Lizzy and Mike McGrother’s Streams of Whiskey, and we have some incredible stand up from Andy Parsons and Teesside’s Patrick Monahan as well as more Catch 22 and Beat the Gong.

Theatre and Dance – We start the season off with Butterfly from Vici Wreford-Sinnot, which is a piece about the stigma of mental health and how we can all help to change misconceptions. There is an exciting opportunity to take part in Putting the Band Back Together (no musical experience is necessary!), and Canape Art will be popping up in the town centre to bring some happiness to the high street. All performances are Pay What You Decide and the majority of performances will be BSL interpreted.

Family  – From happy yellows, to lovely pinks to angry reds, The Colour of Me opens up a world of colour and adventure. The Owl and the Pussycat travel the seas in their pea green boat and uncover a mystical magical land, perfect for little explorers! Heaven Eyes is a beautiful retelling of David Almond’s book about a young girl who harbours a spell-binding secret, which will capture the imaginations of children aged 8 and above.

Classical – Renowned pianist Gulsin Onay will be performing beautiful works from Listz and and Chopin, acclaimed rising star pianist Bocheng Wang will be performing Beethoven, and Giulio Tampalini returns to perform works by Rossini and Bach.

Performances on Screen – A stirring performance of Saint Joan comes from NT Live, ROH deliver an outstandingly visual and decadent Sleeping Beauty ballet, as well as Verdi’s passionate retelling of Shakespeare’s Otello.
