Big Smooth charts the life of Neil Fingleton, a man who grew up in Durham and carried on growing until he, at the height of seven feet and six inches tall, became Britain’s tallest living person.

This moving documentary is a loving tribute to a remarkable man who embraced his unique physicality and went on to become a professional basketball star in America, before taking up acting, starring in 417 Ronin, Doctor Who, X-Men and most notably as Mag, the fearsome giant in classic TV Series Game of Thrones.

To make the TVIFF gala screening even more special, we will be joined by filmmaker Paul Stainthorpe and Neil’s brother, Michael, who will take part in an interview and audience Q&A. Big Smooth is a heartwarming film about a wonderfully gifted person and is not to be missed.
