Dynamic Pricing
ARC’s policy is to set ticket prices based on demand, like budget airlines, which means we set a price when the event goes on sale and then sometimes put the price up or down depending on how the show is selling. Usually, the price will increase as we get closer to the event, so it is advantageous to book in advance, although sometimes we will put special offers on and reduce the price. Our website will always show the current ticket price.
ARC’s theatre and dance performances are priced on a Pay What You Decide basis, which means you don’t have to pay until after you have seen a show!
We want to encourage more people to come and see shows at ARC, more often. Pay What You Decide not only allows you to pay what you can afford, rather than a fixed ticket price, but also removes the financial risk of buying a ticket for a show in advance without knowing whether you are going to enjoy it or not.
Tickets are available to book in advance as usual, but there is no obligation for you to pay until after you have seen the show. You can then decide on a price which you think is suitable based on your experience, which means if you haven’t enjoyed it at all, you don’t have to pay anything.
All money collected will help ARC pay the artists who have performed, and we therefore hope you will give generously.
Please ensure you have arrived and collected your tickets 15 minutes before the show starts in order to secure your seats. At the end of the show, you can decide what to pay, either by cash on the door or by card at the Box Office.

Michael says: ‘from artificial intelligence and robotics to alternative fuels, cleaner energy, and smarter factories, engineering is transforming the way we make, move and power the world. This talk explores how engineers are tackling some of society’s biggest challenges while aiming to improve everyday life. Along the way we’ll answer an important question: can we still enjoy our favourite crisps and snacks with a pint in a net zero future? Drawing on real industrial research, including work with KP Snacks in Billingham, we’ll see that we’re not quite at net zero McCoy’s just yet – but we’re getting closer. With a little more innovation, they’ll taste just as good, be cooked using clean, green fuels and be produced in factories with smart robots working safely alongside smarter people. And they’ll arrive in recyclable/biodegradable packaging. So will the nice pint of Guinness you enjoy them with, happy in the knowledge you’re doing your bit for sustainability. That’s the future engineers are building the foundations for today.’

About The Guest Speaker
Professor Michael Short is Director of the Centre for Sustainable Engineering at Teesside University and researcher in clean energy, industrial decarbonisation, smart systems and robotics/AI. His research focuses on developing practical technologies that help industry become smarter, cleaner and more sustainable, working closely with partners across manufacturing, healthcare and the energy sector.
He has led numerous collaborative research and innovation projects in the UK and internationally, helping translate cutting-edge engineering research into real-world solutions. Through public engagement, Michael enjoys making complex systems engineering concepts accessible, showing how innovation can improve everyday life while supporting the journey to a cleaner, more efficient and sustainable future.

About Cafe Scientifique
Café Scientifique at ARC – Stockton’s only science café Café Scientifique has been bringing science and science-related subjects to the people of Stockton and surrounding areas for over 20 years. There’s no need to know anything about science to come to the Café, just be interested in the world around you and prepare to learn something new.
The Café is usually held at 7.45pm on the third Wednesday of the month. Guest speakers talk for 35-45 minutes and, following a short refreshment break, you can ask a question or comment using the roving mikes. The event usually finishes around 9.30pm.
The speakers are drawn from universities, health trusts and businesses across the region.
Where else can you find out about the latest in science and get to ask the burning questions you’ve always wanted to ask of someone at the leading edge of their work or research?
For a donation of just £6 (more if you can afford it and less if you can’t; students go free) you’re guaranteed to find out something new and experience the infectious passion of the speakers.

Seat size: In our Studio the seats in row A are 37cm (141/2″) wide and 44cm (171/3”) deep, are 44cm (171/3”) from the floor, and have a 12cm (43/4”) gap between seats. Seats in row A are also removable as single seats.
Seats in rows B-H are 43cm (17“) wide and 46cm (18“) deep, are 44cm (171/3 “) from the floor, and have 8cm (3“) between seats.
Seats in rows J-K are 43 cm (17“) wide and 44cm (171/3“) deep, are 44cm (171/3“) from the floor, and have 8cm (3”) between seats.
Armrests: Seats in the Studio do not have armrests.
Legroom: Seats in row A have 50cm (192/3“) of legroom in front of seats.
Seats in rows B-H have 30cm (112/3“) of legroom in front of seats.
Seats in rows J-K have 24cm (91/2“) of legroom in front of seats.
