When a glitch in the system, transports us to a new interface…

Follow Player 1 and Player 2 through our new Sensory Theatre show, as our audience are drawn inside an old arcade game.

With 8-bit music, and video-game inspired lighting, we are inviting learning disabled audiences to explore with their senses on every level.

This interactive and immersive experience will put our audience on the controls, steering our Players through the journey of the game.

  • Additional Information

Drift, conceived and directed by Kirsty Pennycook, Interplay’s Artistic Director, is the company’s new multi-sensory show for audiences with learning disabilities.

The non-verbal narrative of the show will highlight themes of choice, and resilience. With audiences choosing the direction of the characters, and watch them again and again until they succeed. A series of tactile props will be included within the world of the set, including joysticks and buttons, coins and tokens, counters for points, and lights to be collected and stored inside the trophy, in order to defeat the villain.

    Audiences

Drift is made for audiences aged 5 to 19 with varying needs, and includes a cast of performers skilled in delivering flexible and engaging performances for young people with learning disabilities. The show is highly sensory, with limited language, and Interplay have considered movement needs, processing time, and engagement tracking throughout. Their tailored approach provides interactive and sensory ways to engage with story and narrative that doesn’t rely on language, to give audience members a theatre experience they won’t forget.
