Tai Chi is a flowing, focused practice that builds balance, control and a strong sense of wellbeing.

These evening workshops are for all abilities whether you are new to Tai Chi or want to take your practice further, refining movement, improving coordination and building quiet confidence over time.

Each session begins with a moment of stillness before moving into smooth, continuous sequences that develop strength and stability. There’s time to practise and deepen your understanding of the form, with guidance throughout.

Movements can be adapted where needed, creating a supportive space to progress at your own pace while still feeling challenged.

  • Meet the Facilitator

    Hi, I am Mike, I am a Tai Chi Instructor at the ARC. I teach a class on a Thursday evening 7.30pm.

    I have been a Tai Chi Instructor for 29 years and have taught in the ARC since its opening and I teach classes throughout Teesside on a full-time basis.

    Tai Chi is well known to have many health benefits for a variety of different people. These benefits include improved posture, flexibility and balance, speed up recovery from illness, injury and surgery. It helps to lower blood pressure and heart disease. It is also good for help with stress.

    The class is very friendly and loves to welcome new people.

  • What to Bring

    For Tai Chi, all you really need is yourself and a calm, open mindset.

    Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely, along with flat, supportive shoes or soft-soled trainers.

    You might also like to bring a water bottle.

  • Companion Ticket Scheme

    A free ticket is available to a companion accompanying a disabled person to an event, where it is an access requirement.
