Director

Amartya Bhattacharyya

Cast

Choudhury Bikash, Sudhasri Madhusmita, Dipanwit Dashmohapatra

The film revolves around an old man, in an Indian village, who is addicted to pornography and watches them along with his friends. One fine day, he accidentally brings home a DVD having a Godard film in place of a porn film. Though his friends were disgusted, he was attracted by the newness of the film. He then started renting Godard’s films and started gaining interest. Later he calls his friends and decides to organize a film festival on Godard in their village. The idea seemed quite absurd to many, but ultimately the festival happens but has an unexpected ending.

Filled with moments of humor and satire, amidst a cross-cultural context the film is a vivid portrayal of rural India and its characters (the film is based in Odisha, in eastern India, which is largely unseen to the rest of the world).

In Oriya, with English subtitles.
