June at ARC begins with some fabulous half term family fun! Based on the best-selling book by Anna Kemp and Sara Ogilvie, Full House and The Grove Theatre turn a modern fairy tale on its royal head in their bright and bouncy show The Worst Princess!
There’s more excitement when Company Downside Up, the 3rd Year students of Circomedia’s BA Circus and Physical Theatre Degree Course, present Dodecagon, a show filled with acrobatics and aerial circus. Theatre fans are also invited to join Tommy (The Queer Historian) for an evening of gossip and hearsay with My Dear Aunty Nell, exploring how LGBTQ+ history has been shared for generations. And local people from Stockton, who work with Displace Yourself through the Creating Together project, present Guest House, a new piece of theatre exploring the power of kindness.
If comedy is your thing, the inimitable Matt Reed will be hosting the latest edition of Beat the Gong, and MC Phil Ellis is in charge of our monthly Catch 22 Comedy Club with guests Steve Harris, Howard Anstock and Gareth Waugh (please note, Catch 22 line-ups are subject to change so please keep an eye on our website and social media pages for the latest news!).
It’s a great month for music, beginning with a visit from Glenn Tilbrook & Beautiful Landing as they warm up for a Glastonbury appearance. We also welcome Tunde: Voice of the Lighthouse Family, and Jeremy McMurray and his Pocket Jazz Orchestra join forces with Hartlepool’s very own Mick Donnelly and his Musicians Unlimited Big Band for a fabulous and exhilarating evening of jazz big band music.
Cinema-goers can enjoy a wide range of screenings from Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret to the return of National Theatre Live’s Fleabag, and we’re really looking forward to a Q&A with director Jane Gull and producer Karen Newman after Love Without Walls on Fri 16 Jun. Also, don’t forget our regular programme of family films which this month includes The Super Mario Bros. Movie and My Fairy Troublemaker.
Elsewhere, our regular classes and activities for adults continue as usual – join us for everything from Tai Chi and Ballet Pilates to Singers, ARCulele, and more!
