Nearly There Yet in association with Proteus, the Albany and ARC Stockton present Pinocchio:

What do you have to do to become a real boy? And why is doing what you’re ‘supposed to do’ so hard? From the producers of The Party, Brrr!, Backgammon for Beginners and The Hot Dots comes a brand new show for all the family. This Pinocchio is full of the type of fun, mischief and magic that normally only happens when grown-ups turn their backs for just a second. Featuring circus, puppetry and live music, all performed on a beautifully hand crafted set, our cast of incredibly skilled performers will make you fall in love with the story all over again.

Nearly There Yet tell stories and create performances using circus, dance and theatre. Led by artistic director Kaveh Rahnama, they aim to make work that is accessible, thought provoking and entertaining. Recent creations have included The Party, Lab Rat, and The Flying Bazazi Brothers. As well as Pinocchio, in 2017 they will be creating the one man piece Move.

Proteus are an award-winning theatre company from Basingstoke who believe that the audience is as important as the artist, and that to create truly dynamic and relevant theatre the audience and artist must inspire each other’s imagination. Quality, integrity and innovation are the values at the heart of their work. They produce touring shows, projects, residencies and workshops and play a key role in the provision of performance and participatory opportunities for the wider community.

tutti frutti productions, the Albany and ARC Stockton present Ugly Duckling:

Woodland trees transform from dark weathered branches, to silver sticks of frost, while hidden in brushwood, beside an ice-covered lake, a lost rejected duckling stares skyward at the migrating swans, yearning to belong and marvelling at their beauty….

Moving through all four seasons, tutti frutti and York Theatre Royal bring to life Hans Christian Andersen’s well known tale. With a menagerie of farmyard animals, depicted through inventive physicality, and with live music that quacks and trills, this charming production plays with ideas of identity, a sense of belonging and the journey to discover inner beauty.
