Lisa Hobman, Jane Lovering and Jessica Redland are all published by the award-winning independent publisher Boldwood Books. They’re thrilled to be joining the romance panel at the Crossing the Tees Festival. Jessica writes emotional but uplifting stories of love, friendship, family and community. She was born in Middlesbrough but now lives in Scarborough with her husband, daughter and an energetic sprocker spaniel. Scarborough provides the main inspiration for the fictional seaside town of Whitsborough Bay, where twelve of her books so far are set. The Hedgehog Hollow series takes readers to the rolling countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds and in July 2023, Jessica will introduce a brand new series set in the stunning Lake District. Originally an HR professional specialising in recruitment and training, Jessica now writes full-time.

Jane writes books she describes as ‘dark psychological romance, with jokes’. Originally from Devon, she has lived in Yorkshire for 30 years and sets most of her books in the county, on the North York Moors and in the city of York. She lives in a cottage by the moors, which inspires many of her books, with a dreadful dog who does the opposite. She’s been a teacher, a dairy farmer, a science technician, and now works in the local Co-Op, and likes to write books where damaged people save themselves, and romance is the icing on the cake.

Lisa has had what you could call a very varied career, including time working as a singer and appearing on TV’s Stars in Their Eyes in 1997. But writing has always been a deep-rooted passion for her. In 2012 Lisa and her family relocated from England to their favourite place in the world, Scotland, and they are now happily ensconced in village life. The stunning location was the inspiration for her writing career, and so it’s only right that it features in all her books. Lisa is a happily married mum of one with two energetic dogs who make cameo appearances in some of her books. She loves writing and creating new characters and now has the pleasure of owning her own bookshop.
