No 60 Food Lovers Club

No 60’s new Food Lovers Club is all about celebrating the dishes and flavours that leave a lasting impression, the ones that once tasted are never forgotten. We might focus on a specific cooking style, explore international dishes, or celebrate local produce. Each month we will choose a different theme for you sink your teeth into.

A Taste of Belgium

Belgium may have a world-famous reputation for the quality of its chocolate delicacies, but don’t be fooled – the culinary prowess of this European food capital can’t be truly understood through chocolate alone.

Join the No 60 team and master chocolatier David Greenwood Haigh for A Taste of Belgium, where we will be delving deeper into the breadth of tasty and comforting dishes the country has to offer.

You will be treated to a tomate aux crevette; these stuffed tomatoes are filled with prawns and a homemade Belgian sauce, made with a mayonnaise base and infused with Dijon mustard to add just the right amount of spice. For vegetarian diners we will serve tomato stuffed with pesto and pine nuts and lightly baked.

For the main you can indulge in stoverij ladled over potatoes and mixed greens. Chocolate does appear in this dish but it’s nothing like a dessert, chocolate here instead elevates the hearty flavour of the tender beef and adds a sweetness to the rich sauce. The result is a classic Flemish comfort food that’s quite unlike anything else. For vegetarian diners will be cooking up a stoverji made with lentils, broccoli and braised chestnut mushrooms.

To finish the evening there’s a range of handcrafted Belgian truffles, skilfully prepared by the No 60 team and Master Chocolatier David Greenwood-Haigh from Coeur de Xocolat.

This event is taking place as part of Fairtrade Fortnight and all of the chocolate used as part of the menu will be Fairtrade. Once you have finished dining you will also be able to sample No 60’s Fairtrade coffee, served alongside our own Fairtrade shortbread biscuits.

To find out more about Fairtrade and how you can be more Fairtrade-friendly visit the Fairtrade website.

In order to reduce food waste and our impact on the environment pre-booking is essential for all of our food events.
