Children’s classic Pinocchio goes with a Hiccup

Following sell out national tours in 2012 of The Owl and the Pussycat and 2013 of Rumpelstiltskin, Hiccup Theatre are now embarking on a new show: a brand new version of Pinocchio by multi award winning writer and former Children’s Laureate Michael Rosen (We’re Going on a Bear Hunt).

Follow Pinocchio and his grasshopper friend as they set out on an adventure – to find some fun! Now if only his nose would just stay still!

A co-production with Derby Theatre, Pinocchio will be coming to ARC on Tuesday 27 & Wednesday 28 May as part of its Spring/Summer UK tour.

Hiccup Theatre is one of the South East’s leading children’s theatre companies led by Director Sarah Brigham and Composer Ivan Stott. In 2013 Hiccup were awarded the ACA (Action for Children’s Arts) Members Award, for outstanding contribution to enriching children’s lives through the arts.  They combine live music, puppetry and physical storytelling to make work of excellence for children and their grown-ups.

For this production Hiccup have brought together an award winning creative team including writer Michael Rosen, Designer Barney George (Derby Theatre, The West Yorkshire Playhouse, Da Vinci Code, Slung Low) Sony nominated Composer Ivan Stott and Director Sarah Brigham (awarded the Writers Guild of Great Britain award for the encouragement of new writing).

Hiccup Theatre’s Co Artistic Director Sarah Brigham said,

You can expect 4 multi-talented actor musicians, a wonderful set and costumes, fantastically catchy songs, noses that actually grow and a naughty, cheeky Pinocchio himself!
