Roisin Crowley Linton is looking for dynamic, multi-disciplinary and passionate performers, artists and creators to join her theatre, circus and cabaret show Not Yours.

This call out is open to artists all across the UK, aged 18+. The deadline to apply is Thursday 28 November at 10am.

About Not Yours

Not Yours is a show about the journey to recovery and everything that comes after experiencing sexual violence. Part theatre, part drag, part burlesque, part riot, part party – a celebration of perverting the idea of a victim being small, weak and cowering.

Roisin will NOT be asking anyone to disclose their experiences on stage, in application or in any marketing materials. Any disclosures during the rehearsal process will be carefully managed and not obligatory. This is not really a show about sexual violence or abuse, it is a show about recovery, and sharing that recovery DOES exist, even when it feels like you have no idea how to get there. Wherever you are, at some point you have to get home. We would be tackling a heavy subject with joy, laughter, playfulness and rage.

Not Yours has been commissioned by ARC Stockton as part of the Make New Work programme. ARC Stockton is providing producing support as part of this commission. For more information on this commission, read here.

After three solo shows, combining her unique blend of autobiographical stand-up comedy, original writing and weird, sexy cabaret, Roisin will be embarking on a show that’s bigger than ever and is looking for the right cast to join her ensemble as she hosts Not Yours – the cabaret that is filled with rage, sex, community and unbridled freedom.

If you don’t know Roisin’s work yet, visit www.roisincrowleylinton.com or look at her showreel.

This is a particularly unique opportunity, with two weeks of rehearsals from Monday 3 February to Friday 14 February 2025 at ARC in Stockton, culminating in a show on Saturday 15 February, as part of ARC’s Spring 2025 season.

We will be creating a 95 minute show together which Roisin will host. It will be a cabaret show created in collaboration with the ensemble over a two week devising process. We are aiming for a show so raucous it feels like a night out, a piece of theatre so touching it stays with you and a cabaret of world class quality.

What we are looking for

Roisin is looking for performers who:

  • Have experience creating and performing cabaret
  • Have experience creating and performing devised theatre
  • Have lived experience of sexual violence, harassment or gender-based abuse
  • Are multi-skilled and excited to bring their whole selves to the show (we would love to know if you are also a costume maestro, secretly a carpenter, are a DJ at the after-party, or have a background in choreography)
  • Have experience, or willingness to learn, counter-weighting for aerial performance

We don’t mind what your art form is! Drag, contortionism, musical comedy, clowning, circus, aerial (there is aerial rigging at ARC!) – in fact, the more varied and weird the better.

We are gender inclusive and are looking for a range of voices. We are looking for a cast that represents the world we live in and represents and empowers oppressed voices and minoritised people.

Working Practice & Ethos

We welcome people of any gender, sexuality, age, disability and ethnicity to apply. We aim to be radically inclusive, we are a team of femmes, queers and strong women. We are body neutral, we are LGBTQIA+, we are sex positive and aim to work with a trauma-informed practice.

Roisin worked as a sexual assault crisis worker in a Sexual Assault Referral Centre for two years during the pandemic. Working with people who have experienced sexual violence is something she is very passionate about, and feels well informed and equipped to run this project.

We are looking for performers who are at a point in their recovery where the creation of this show will not be triggering or re-traumatising. This is something that only you can decide for yourself, and there is no shame if this project is not right for you, right now. Please be mindful, this project is not therapy, and Roisin is not a therapist. A wellbeing worker will be available to provide informal check ins for the company and support the two-week process.

If you would like to understand more about the working ethos, and support available during the devising process, please feel free to email Allison Birt (ARC Producer) with any questions at [email protected]
